Jojoba Oil: Liquid Gold Your Skin (and Home) Will Love 🌿
Have you heard of the desert wonder that can replace half your make-up bag and save your favourite furniture at the same time? Jojoba oil isn’t just another trend. It’s one of nature’s most versatile gifts, and thanks to its unique power it has found its way into our premium wood and leather care products too.
Why is it so special, why do we insist on unrefined organic quality, and why should you have it at home too? Let’s look at what this “liquid gold” can do! 👇
Not all oils are equal. What makes jojoba different?
Although we all call it an oil, chemically jojoba is actually a liquid plant wax. It is pressed from the seeds of the Simmondsia chinensis shrub.
Why does that matter? 🤔 Because its structure is almost identical to human sebum, and also to the natural protective substances in natural materials. Skin welcomes it with open arms, wood “drinks” it deep down, and leather stays supple thanks to it.
🌵 Where does this “liquid gold” come from?
Jojoba’s historic home is the scorching Sonoran Desert in America, but we went elsewhere for the best quality. Our oil comes straight from sunny Israel.
Israel is a world leader in growing jojoba. Local farmers in the Negev Desert have perfected the cultivation of this hardy plant:
- Ideal climate: hot days, cool nights and dry air – exactly what jojoba loves. These conditions make the plant produce seeds with an exceptionally high content of precious wax.
- Cutting-edge technology: Israeli agriculture is known for its innovative and eco-friendly approach to water and soil. Every drop of water is used wisely.
- Certified organic quality: our oil doesn’t come from large industrial plantations full of chemicals, but from controlled organic farming.
An eco hero 🌱
For us at Waxopack, it also matters that jojoba is a sustainable crop:
- It saves water: it doesn’t need intensive irrigation.
- It protects the soil: its deep roots prevent desert soil erosion.
- No chemicals: thanks to its resilience, it often needs no pesticides.
💡 When you put pure jojoba oil on your face, you’re touching the pure energy of the sun and a resilience that nature has built up over thousands of years.
Organic, cold-pressed and unrefined: why it matters
You might be wondering: “Isn’t ordinary jojoba oil good enough?” The answer is simple – if you’re putting it on your face or on wood you eat from, the difference is huge.
✅ 100% organic
Our oil comes from organic farming with no pesticides or herbicides. You can be sure that you’re applying a pure, toxin-free product to your skin (or your wooden chopping board). Plants that aren’t “boosted” with artificial fertilisers also have to build stronger immunity – and that shows in the potency of the oil.
❄️ Cold-pressed
The seeds are pressed mechanically at low temperatures (below 49 °C). That way, heat doesn’t destroy the valuable substances, and all the vitamins, antioxidants and minerals stay in the oil.
💎 Unrefined
This is key! Many oils on the market are bleached and deodorised to make them “universal”. Our oil is unrefined. That means it keeps its natural golden colour and gentle nutty scent. It’s oil in its purest and most effective form.
6+1 reasons to add jojoba oil to your routine 💧
1. An elixir of youth and a fix for skin problems 🧖♀️
Thanks to its high content of vitamins E and B, jojoba acts as a powerful antioxidant. What does that mean?
- Anti-ageing: it neutralises free radicals, supports cell renewal and helps prevent wrinkles.
- Problem skin: it has anti-inflammatory effects that soothe eczema, psoriasis and rosacea.
- Sebum balance: it suits all skin types. It deeply hydrates dry skin (thanks to ceramides) and signals oily skin to stop overproducing sebum. A great ally in the fight against acne!
💡 Our tip: always apply the oil to damp skin so it absorbs fully and leaves no greasy film. Warm a few drops in your palms and gently massage in – the oil locks moisture into the skin and leaves it velvety soft.
2. Crowning glory: hair, beards and moustaches 💇♂️
- For women: a few drops massaged into the ends prevent split ends and add shine. If you struggle with hair loss, it loosens hair follicles and hydrates the scalp.
- For men (beards and moustaches): forget expensive barber oils. Jojoba is ideal for hydrating facial hair and the skin underneath. It absorbs easily and leaves no greasy film, so your beard stays soft and well-groomed.
3. Rescue for nails and lashes 💅
A few drops massaged into the nail bed soften the cuticles and strengthen the nails. A small amount applied to lashes and brows nourishes them and supports their growth.
4. Protection and shine for your wood 🪵
Wood is a living material. Jojoba oil penetrates deep into the fibres, nourishes them and prevents cracking. Unlike other oils, it is resistant to oxidation, so it doesn’t yellow or change the natural colour of your chopping board.
5. A new lease of life for leather goods 👞
Leather needs moisture, otherwise it cracks. Jojoba oil softens it, waterproofs it and protects it from damp without clogging its pores. Your shoes or handbags will look as good as new.
6. Massage, relaxation and aromatherapy 💆♀️
Thanks to its texture, it absorbs beautifully and leaves no greasy film, making it an ideal base for massage. It’s also a perfect carrier oil for essential oils – just add a few drops of your favourite scent for your own aromatherapy experience.
🐾 Paw protection: safe care for four-legged friends too
Did you know that what’s good for your skin is appreciated by your pets as well? Organic jojoba oil and our Leather Balm are little wonders for dogs too. Many pharmacy creams contain chemicals, but nature offers a safer alternative.
Paws take a beating all year round. In winter they suffer from road salt and ice, in summer from hot tarmac. The result is often dry, rough or cracked pads.
- Nourishment and regeneration: jojoba oil is hypoallergenic and non-toxic. If your dog has a dry nose or rough paws, a drop of oil deeply hydrates them and relieves itching.
- Winter paw protection: beeswax (the base of our leather balms) forms an invisible, water-resistant “shield” on the paw that protects sensitive skin from harsh salt and frost.
- Safe if licked: this is the biggest advantage. Because we use pure natural ingredients, you don’t need to worry even if your dog licks its paw after you’ve applied it.
💡 Our tip: before a winter walk, apply a thin layer of balm to the paws (it works as a protective barrier). When you get back and have washed the paws, use a few drops of jojoba oil to soothe and regenerate them.
