How to use beeswax wraps the right way
So now you've got one at home!
A beautiful, fragrant and practical helper in the kitchen and on trips. But do you know how to look after your beeswax wrap so it stays that way for as long as possible? Follow a few simple rules and it can easily last you two years. 😉
Probably the most common mistake (and not just for beginners) is forgetting.
Yes, it still happens to us too – we forget to unwrap a sandwich, and when we remember it three weeks later, yuck, nobody's eating that. Worse still, mould is hard to get out of a beeswax wrap.
It can be done (you'll find the instructions on our website), but why make life difficult?

An eco-friendly kitchen helper – the Waxopack beeswax wrap.
Heat is the second thing to watch.
Beeswax wraps contain beeswax, and wax melts at higher temperatures. Obviously… So: don't leave it in direct sunlight in summer, don't put it in the dishwasher, washing machine, microwave or oven, don't forget it in a car in the hot sun, and don't toast sausages in it. (Unless you want to make a torch – which isn't actually a bad idea.) Better not wrap hot soup in it either. Lukewarm water is all it needs, and if you need washing-up liquid, choose an eco-friendly one that rinses out easily. No need to blow-dry it – just let it dry on the dish rack. 🙃

Wash your beeswax wrap in lukewarm water only, never hot.
Third: don't wrap raw meat or blue cheese in it. You can probably guess why…
And finally: if you do feel the need to test these rules and see just how much your wrap can take – fair enough.
Even a damaged beeswax wrap can be repaired. All you need is your wrap, a wax refresher bar, baking paper, an iron or an oven, and 15 minutes.
We hope you enjoy using it – may it last you as long as possible.
